Will AI replace business consultants in Singapore?
AI tools can already draft reports, summarise research, build first-pass analyses and write up recommendations, so a large share of the desk work in consulting is moving to software. People are still needed to judge what a client should actually do, to earn trust, and to handle the competing interests inside an organisation. Expect the job to change a lot, with fewer hours spent producing documents and more spent on advice and on helping clients act on it.
Why it scores 8
Business consultants work primarily with digital deliverables—analyses, reports, and strategic recommendations—that AI can increasingly generate, synthesize, and refine autonomously. Automation directly threatens both the analytical work consultants perform and headcount, as AI tools enable remaining consultants to handle far larger caseloads. However, complex business judgment, client relationship management, and the ability to navigate nuanced stakeholder dynamics provide meaningful barriers compared to purely routine knowledge work.
The score reads the job title, not you. Your own exposure depends on your tasks, employer and tools. A high score means the daily work changes, not that the job disappears.
What business consultants can do
Let AI draft, then check it hard
Use AI tools for first drafts of analyses, summaries and slide text, then test the logic and the facts yourself. Your value is in catching what looks right but is wrong for this client.
Spend more time with clients
Build trust by sitting with clients, listening to what they worry about and asking what they have not said. This is the part software cannot do for you.
Go deeper in one industry
Pick a sector and learn how its work, rules and people really operate. Specific knowledge lets you give advice that a general-purpose tool would miss.
