Will AI replace lorry drivers in Singapore?
AI is unlikely to replace lorry drivers in Singapore any time soon. Software can already help with route planning, delivery scheduling and tracking loads, but the driving itself still needs a person who can judge traffic, tight yards and changing road conditions. People are also still needed at loading points to check goods, deal with staff and sort out problems as they come up.
Why it scores 2
Lorry drivers face a natural barrier: physical presence on the road remains essential, and real-time navigation through Singapore's complex urban/inter-island environments requires human judgment. While autonomous vehicle technology is advancing, regulatory frameworks and the need for human coordination at loading points create meaningful friction—adoption in Singapore remains years away, keeping this role well within the Low exposure band alongside taxi drivers.
The score reads the job title, not you. Your own exposure depends on your tasks, employer and tools. A high score means the daily work changes, not that the job disappears.
