Will AI replace chief executives in Singapore?
AI tools can already help chief executives with reading reports, testing different business scenarios, summarising meetings and drafting messages. That saves time and gives them a clearer picture faster. The core of the job still needs a person: deciding under uncertainty, answering for the results, and earning the trust of staff, customers, investors and regulators.
Why it scores 5
While AI can significantly augment CEO productivity through enhanced data analysis, scenario modeling, and communication support, the core value of the role—strategic judgment under uncertainty, leadership accountability, and stakeholder relationship management—remains irreducibly human. The work is moderately exposed to AI assistance but protected by the fundamental requirement for human judgment and organizational accountability.
The score reads the job title, not you. Your own exposure depends on your tasks, employer and tools. A high score means the daily work changes, not that the job disappears.
What chief executives can do
Use AI for briefing and analysis
Let it summarise long reports, compare scenarios and draft first versions of updates. Check the output against what you know of the business before you act on it.
Keep the final judgement with you
AI can lay out options, but it cannot own the choice. Make a habit of writing down why you decided what you did, so your reasoning stays clear and accountable.
Invest in people and relationships
Time with staff, partners and stakeholders is the part AI cannot do for you. Protect it when routine work gets quicker, and use it to build trust and read the mood of the organisation.
