Will AI replace business valuers in Singapore?
AI tools can already pull figures from financial statements, build models, find comparable companies and draft much of a valuation report, so a lot of the routine analysis is moving to software. Business valuers still need to choose the right method, judge whether the data fits the business, and explain the result to clients. Someone must also stand behind the final opinion, and software cannot take that responsibility. Fewer people may be needed for the same amount of work, and the job will lean more on judgement.
Why it scores 7
Business valuers perform fundamentally digital work—financial analysis, modeling, comparable company research, and report writing—all highly susceptible to AI assistance. AI can automate data extraction, financial modeling, benchmarking, and draft report generation, increasing productivity per valuer and reducing headcount. However, professional judgment on valuation methodologies, understanding complex business contexts, stakeholder relationships, and professional accountability provide meaningful insulation from full automation.
The score reads the job title, not you. Your own exposure depends on your tasks, employer and tools. A high score means the daily work changes, not that the job disappears.
What business valuers can do
Let AI draft, then check everything
Use AI tools for data extraction, first-pass models and report drafts. Check every input and assumption yourself, since errors in a valuation carry your name.
Sharpen your judgement on methods
Practise explaining why you chose one approach over another for a given business. This reasoning is the part clients and reviewers rely on, and software handles it poorly.
Build deeper client and industry knowledge
Spend more time understanding how the business really earns money, who its rivals are and what its owners expect. This context shapes a sound valuation and is hard for software to gather. SkillsFuture support may help you add industry knowledge.
