Will AI replace call centre managers in Singapore?
AI is unlikely to replace call centre managers outright, but a large share of the routine management work is moving to software. Dashboards, scheduling, call quality checks and performance reports can increasingly be built, run and summarised by AI tools, and the call centre floor itself is also being automated. People are still needed to handle upset customers who escalate, to coach and motivate agents, and to make judgement calls when the data does not give a clear answer.
Why it scores 7
Call centre management is fundamentally digital—involving dashboards, workforce analytics, scheduling, quality assurance, and performance reporting—most of which AI can increasingly automate or optimize. While human judgment in complex escalations and team coaching provides some insulation, the role's heavy reliance on routine operational data analysis and administrative systems makes it highly exposed to AI-driven productivity improvements and the broader automation of call centre operations already underway.
The score reads the job title, not you. Your own exposure depends on your tasks, employer and tools. A high score means the daily work changes, not that the job disappears.
What call centre managers can do
Shift your time towards coaching agents
Reports and schedules are the easiest parts to hand to software. Spend the time you save on one-to-one coaching, difficult calls and helping agents who are struggling.
Learn to question what the tools tell you
Automated quality scores and forecasts can be wrong or miss context. Check them against what you hear on real calls, and speak up when a number does not match what is happening on the floor.
Prepare your team for a changing mix of work
As bots take the simple queries, the calls left for people are harder and more emotional. Plan training for your agents in handling complex cases, and look into SkillsFuture options for yourself and your team.
