Will AI replace financial advisers in Singapore?
AI tools can already do much of the desk work that financial advisers do, such as scanning markets, checking portfolios against a client's goals, drafting reports and filling in documents. A lot of that routine work is moving to software, so the daily job will change a good deal. Clients still look to a person for trust, for advice that fits their life, and for judgement on difficult cases where someone must answer for the advice given.
Why it scores 7
Financial/Investment advisers perform substantial digital work—market analysis, portfolio assessment, documentation, and reporting—all of which AI can increasingly automate or augment. Robo-advisors and AI-driven analytics platforms are already disrupting this sector. However, the relationship manager role emphasizes client trust, personalized advice, and complex judgment calls that require human oversight and fiduciary responsibility, providing natural barriers to full replacement.
The score reads the job title, not you. Your own exposure depends on your tasks, employer and tools. A high score means the daily work changes, not that the job disappears.
What financial advisers can do
Let software draft your routine reports
Use AI tools to prepare first drafts of portfolio reviews and client summaries, then check every figure and sentence yourself. The time saved is better spent with clients.
Spend more time on client conversations
Clients rarely change their plans because of a report. They do it after a talk about their worries, family and goals. Build the habit of asking about these and recording what you hear.
Get good at judging AI suggestions
Learn where automated analysis tends to miss things, such as unusual client circumstances or sudden market changes. Being the person who can spot a weak recommendation and explain why keeps your advice trusted. SkillsFuture can be a starting point for building this.
