Will AI replace insurance services managers in Singapore?
AI will not replace insurance services managers in Singapore, but it will change a large share of their day. Software can already sort and process claims, assess routine risks, check policy terms and draft reports, so much of that routine work is moving to automated tools. People are still needed for difficult underwriting calls, for client relationships where trust matters, for leading a team, and for answering to regulators, because someone has to be accountable for those decisions.
Why it scores 7
Insurance services managers perform heavily digital work with significant automation exposure: claims processing, risk assessment, policy analysis, and reporting can be substantially AI-enabled. However, the role retains protection through judgment-intensive underwriting decisions, complex client relationship management, team leadership, and regulatory oversight responsibilities that resist full automation.
The score reads the job title, not you. Your own exposure depends on your tasks, employer and tools. A high score means the daily work changes, not that the job disappears.
What insurance services managers can do
Learn to check AI-assisted claims work
Practise reviewing what automated tools produce on claims and risk assessments, and spot where they get unusual cases wrong. A manager who can catch those errors is hard to replace.
Focus on complex underwriting judgement
Take on the cases that do not fit standard rules, such as unusual risks or disputed claims. These need experience and a clear explanation to clients, which software does not provide well.
Redesign your team's routine workflows
Work out which reporting and processing steps can be handed to tools, and move your staff towards client contact and decision-making. Use SkillsFuture to help your team build these skills.
