Will AI replace market researchers in Singapore?
AI tools can already draft survey questions, clean and analyse data, spot patterns and write first versions of reports, so much of the routine work is moving to software. One researcher with these tools can cover far more than before. People are still needed to judge whether the method is sound, to decide what the findings mean for a real business choice, and to build trust with clients who must act on the results.
Why it scores 8
Market research is fundamentally digital and data-driven work—survey design, statistical analysis, pattern recognition, and report generation are all core AI strengths. AI will heavily automate data collection, analysis pipelines, and insight synthesis, while multiplying individual researcher productivity. However, strategic interpretation of findings, research methodology validation, and client relationship management require human judgment, preventing complete automation.
The score reads the job title, not you. Your own exposure depends on your tasks, employer and tools. A high score means the daily work changes, not that the job disappears.
What market researchers can do
Hand routine analysis to AI tools
Let software do the first pass on coding responses, cleaning data and drafting summaries. Then check the output closely, because errors in the data or the method are what clients blame you for.
Get stronger at judging research quality
Practise spotting weak samples, leading questions and results that look neat but mislead. This checking work is harder to automate and becomes more valuable when anyone can produce a report quickly.
Focus on advising clients
Spend more time understanding what decision the client faces and what the findings mean for it. Explaining a result clearly and recommending a next step is where a person still adds the most.
