Will AI replace marketing strategists in Singapore?
AI tools can already do much of the research side of marketing planning, such as summarising market reports, comparing competitors, spotting patterns in customer data and drafting first versions of plans and reports. Deciding which audience to chase, how a brand should stand apart, and which trade-offs the business will accept still needs a person who knows the company and its market. Expect the routine analysis to move to software, while your judgement and your relationships with stakeholders carry more of the value.
Why it scores 7
Marketing strategy/planning is fundamentally digital knowledge work involving research, data analysis, competitive intelligence, and report generation—all readily augmented or partially automated by AI. However, strategic judgment, creative positioning, stakeholder management, and understanding brand/market context require human expertise that limits exposure below the 8–9 range of routine analytical roles.
The score reads the job title, not you. Your own exposure depends on your tasks, employer and tools. A high score means the daily work changes, not that the job disappears.
What marketing strategists can do
Hand routine research to AI tools
Use them for first drafts of competitor reviews, market summaries and reports. Then check the output against sources you trust, because the tools can sound sure while being wrong.
Sharpen your judgement on positioning
Practise explaining why a brand should take one direction over another, and what you would give up. This is the part clients and managers still rely on people for.
Build trust with stakeholders and local insight
Spend more time with sales teams, customers and partners to learn what the data misses. Knowing how Singapore audiences and the wider region differ from one another is hard for software to copy.
