Will AI replace software and applications managers in Singapore?
AI tools can already help with much of the planning side of this work, such as drafting schedules, tracking progress, summarising reports and reviewing code or process data. Those parts of the job are likely to change a lot and take less time. The core of the role still needs a person: deciding priorities, leading a team, handling trade-offs between cost, risk and quality, and being accountable for what ships. AI is more likely to reshape how managers work than to replace them.
Why it scores 7
Software and applications managers operate in a fundamentally digital environment with significant exposure to AI-driven automation in planning, scheduling, performance tracking, and code/process analysis. However, strategic judgment, team leadership, and organizational decision-making provide some resilience—AI augments rather than replaces these managerial functions.
The score reads the job title, not you. Your own exposure depends on your tasks, employer and tools. A high score means the daily work changes, not that the job disappears.
