Will AI replace trade brokers in Singapore?
AI will not replace trade brokers outright in Singapore, but it will change the job a great deal. Tools can already draft contracts, summarise market news, check rules and write client proposals, so much of the desk work is moving to software and fewer people may be needed to do it. Clients still want a person they trust to read the room, make a judgement call in a live negotiation and take responsibility when something goes wrong.
Why it scores 7
Trade brokers' work is fundamentally digital—market analysis, contract drafting, regulatory research, and client proposals are all highly amenable to AI-assisted generation and decision support. AI can accelerate productivity significantly, increasing pressure on headcount. However, relationship-building, real-time negotiation judgment, and regulatory responsibility create meaningful human elements that resist full automation, placing this in High rather than Very High exposure.
The score reads the job title, not you. Your own exposure depends on your tasks, employer and tools. A high score means the daily work changes, not that the job disappears.
What trade brokers can do
Let AI draft, then check it yourself
Use AI tools for first drafts of contracts, proposals and market notes. Read every line before it goes out, because you stay responsible for what the client signs.
Spend more time with clients
Relationships and trust are what software cannot supply. Use the time saved on paperwork to call clients, learn what they actually need and keep their business.
Sharpen your negotiation and rule knowledge
Live negotiation and sound regulatory judgement are the parts that stay with a person. Keep practising them, and look at what SkillsFuture offers for building these skills further.
