Will AI replace ICT auditors in Singapore?
AI tools can already read system logs, compare settings against a checklist, sort through large sets of evidence and draft the first version of an audit report. That covers a good share of the routine checking and writing. A person still has to decide which risks matter for a particular business, explain findings to managers who may disagree, and stand behind the conclusions. So the daily work is likely to change a lot, while the accountability for the audit stays with people.
Why it scores 7
ICT auditors work almost entirely on computers analyzing systems, writing reports, and checking compliance—fundamentally digital work that AI can increasingly assist with. However, the role requires significant professional judgment about risk materiality, business context, and stakeholder communication, plus accountability for audit conclusions, which creates barriers to full automation beyond support tools.
The score reads the job title, not you. Your own exposure depends on your tasks, employer and tools. A high score means the daily work changes, not that the job disappears.
What ICT auditors can do
Let tools do the first-pass checks
Try AI help on evidence sorting, control testing and report drafting. Always check the output against the source material, since you remain the one signing off.
Build your judgement on risk
Practise explaining why one weakness matters more than another for a given business. This is the part software cannot be held responsible for, and it is where your value grows.
Get better at talking to stakeholders
Spend more time on clear findings, honest discussions with system owners and practical recommendations. Use SkillsFuture options to build skills in AI-related risks, so you can audit the systems your clients are starting to adopt.
