Will AI replace ICT business analysts in Singapore?
AI tools can already draft requirements, tidy process maps, summarise interviews, analyse data and write first versions of reports, so much of the routine paperwork in this job is moving to software. People are still needed to work out what the business really wants, to handle competing views between teams, and to help staff accept new ways of working. The day-to-day work will change a lot, and the people who do it well will spend more time on judgement and less on documentation.
Why it scores 7
ICT business process consultants perform predominantly digital work—requirements analysis, process documentation, data analysis, and report generation—all core areas where AI provides substantial productivity gains and automation potential. However, meaningful stakeholder engagement, organizational context understanding, and change management components provide meaningful protection against full automation compared to pure technical analyst roles.
The score reads the job title, not you. Your own exposure depends on your tasks, employer and tools. A high score means the daily work changes, not that the job disappears.
What ICT business analysts can do
Let AI draft your documents
Use AI tools to produce first drafts of requirements, process maps and reports, then check them closely against what stakeholders actually said. Your value is in catching what is wrong or missing.
Spend more time with stakeholders
Workshops, interviews and tough conversations about priorities are hard for software to do well. Build your skill at asking good questions and spotting what people leave unsaid.
Deepen your knowledge of one industry
Understanding how a particular business, its rules and its people really work helps you judge what AI produces. Choose a sector you work in often and learn its detail, using SkillsFuture resources if they suit you.
