Will AI replace load control officers in Singapore?

AI will probably not replace load control officers in Singapore, but a large share of the calculation work is moving to software. Tools can already work out weight and balance, plan how cargo and baggage should be spread, and check the plan against the rules. A person is still needed to confirm what is physically on the aircraft, deal with last-minute changes, and give the final safety sign-off, because someone must be accountable when the plan and the real load do not match.

Why it scores 7

The role's core work—calculating aircraft weight distribution, load planning, and compliance checking—is fundamentally algorithmic and highly automatable by AI systems. However, physical presence for aircraft verification and mandatory human safety sign-off create a natural barrier that prevents complete automation, capping exposure below roles with purely digital output.

The score reads the job title, not you. Your own exposure depends on your tasks, employer and tools. A high score means the daily work changes, not that the job disappears.

What load control officers can do

  1. Check software plans against the real load

Get good at spotting when a计算 plan does not match what was actually loaded. Your eye for odd cargo, late baggage and mislabelled items is what the software cannot supply.

  2. Learn how the planning tools reach answers

Understand the checks and limits behind each automated result, so you can tell when an output looks wrong. This lets you question it quickly instead of trusting it blindly.

  3. Build skill in handling disruptions

Practise deciding what to do when flights change, cargo arrives late or an aircraft swap happens. These judgement calls under time pressure stay with people, and SkillsFuture options may help you build them.
